Newport News Industrial has access to a 30,000 square foot laboratory complex and its staff of chemists, metallurgists, engineers and technicians are available to assist in reverse engineering, failure analysis, identification of contaminants, and testing of new designs using materials and mechanical testing approaches. Materials TestingOur chemists, metallurgists, engineers and technicians can analyze, identify and work with all types of materials to ensure compatibility with design specifications. Our laboratory performs metallurgical investigation, wet chemical analysis of metals and non-metallic materials, instrument analysis, and evaluation of paints, plastics and adhesives. Mechanical TestingA specialty of our laboratories is mechanical testing, which encompasses tension and compression tests; hardness testing; load calibration; Charpy impact testing; dropweight and dynamic tear testing; lightweight shock testing; bending fatigue testing; wear testing and strain gauge testing. |
